The Alex Fraser Group is engaged in construction materials recycling, and asphalt production and paving. We operate five facilities in Melbourne, two in Brisbane and employ around 260 people. The role is based at Derrimut in Melbourne.

About the Opportunity

This leadership team role reports to the General Manager and supports three crushing sites and 100 people in the Melbourne operations of the Recycling Division.

Our values guide everything we do. We work in a high risk environment and we rely on our HSEQ Advisors to coach operations and support high standards for safety. Our people live by the motto, “you see it, you own it.”

You will be based at head office in Derrimut and regularly visit sites at Clayton, Epping and Laverton North. You will be supported by a Group Safety Manager and two peer HSEQ Advisors.

You will be degree qualified in occupational health and safety.  Ideally you will also be a qualified lead investigator (ICAM or similar) and hold a Cert IV in Training and Assessment.

You must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in an operational or senior health & safety role with exposure to manufacturing, maintenance, mining, quarrying or transport. You will also be:

  • Able to identify hazards, assess risks and propose practical controls for: stored energies (including guarding & isolation controls), confined spaces, restricted spaces and work at heights;
  • A superior written and verbal communicator (e.g. able to write SWMS, develop toolbox training materials and lead quality incident investigations).
  • A hands-on, collaborative person
  • Able to work with the corporate centre, leadership team peers and site personnel.
  • Experienced with HSEQ management system development, implementation, maintenance and auditing
  • Well versed in health & safety legislation and regulations.
