OUR COMPANY

The Alex Fraser Group is engaged in four strategic activities: construction and demolition materials recycling; specialist industrial demolition; environmental remediation services; and asphalt production and paving. We operate four production facilities in Melbourne, three in Brisbane and employ around 200 people. The role is based at Eagle Farm in Brisbane.

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

You will lead the Queensland division with 50 people, $18m in annual turnover and the capacity to produce 1 million tonnes of specification-grade construction product. The business includes two fixed crushing plants and a clean fill site in metropolitan Brisbane and a fleet of heavy plant and earthmoving equipment.

You will lead a capable team across HSSE, Production, Sales and Projects functions. Priorities for the Queensland business include growing relationships with long standing customers and targeting large infrastructure projects, increasing production efficiencies using Lean manufacturing principles, commercialization of new products and further development of a capable team of people. Our parent company Swire are long-term thinkers and keen to see the Queensland business grow into new locations and expand with new products.

You are an authentic leader with a down-to-earth style and the ability to manage a broad agenda of priorities. You must have experience running businesses with high fixed costs and low margins, eliminating and controlling waste, and setting clear performance objectives for your team.

Your experience will include growing businesses, leading teams and developing people. Experience with in heavy manufacturing, mining, construction or quarry operations is highly desirable. You must be credible in a technical environment and be able to understand and manage the drivers, risks, opportunities and technical expertise of an equipment-intensive business. Your interpersonal and leadership style must resonate with the Alex Fraser culture: we are practical, down-to-earth and quietly-confident.
